“We’ve been told” – Sky Sports pundit confirms Southampton fast move for £40k-p/w star

Numerous Championship teams, including Southampton, are ‘interested’ in signing Liverpool player Fabio Carvalho. Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth told GIVEMESPORT that Carvalho’s arrival might be crucial to bringing Premier League action back to St Mary’s the following season.

Russell Martin’s team is in contention for an instant return to the top flight, even though relegation caused players like Romeo Lavia, Tino Livramento, and captain James Ward-Prowse to move on to new pastures during the summer transfer window, allowing Saints to pocket more than £150 million from sales.

As they attempt to move up into the Championship’s automatic promotion spots, Southampton has set its sights on acquiring Carvalho, who was recalled from a loan spell with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig due to a lack of playing time.

Saints racing to get to Carvalho

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Southampton is one of many suitors hoping to take Carvalho on a temporary loan for the rest of the season. Their efforts may be fruitful, as Liverpool is keen to approve yet another Anfield departure.

The Italian journalist, writing in his CaughtOffside column, speculates that the Reds want the Portugal under-21 international, who has already advanced from the Championship with Fulham in his early career, to get regular playing time after he was only able to play for 360 minutes during his shortened stint with RB Leipzig.

The Championship record of Fabio Carvalho

Despite only recently returning to Merseyside, Carvalho has already drawn attention from up to five clubs. Transfer source Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool are holding internal discussions with Carvalho regarding what would be their best option.

While it is known that Leicester City is eager to win the winger competition in order to increase their chances of holding the lead in the Championship, and their current standing at the top of the table makes them an appealing offer, teams from other divisions are also making moves.

Despite his difficulties in the Bundesliga, Carvalho has fans, including Wolverhampton Wanderers. It has also surfaced that he is amenable to securing a return to Fulham, as the Cottagers expressed interest prior to the winter window opening for business.

Serie A champions-eager AC Milan and struggling Premier League teams When it became apparent that an early return to Liverpool was imminent, Burnley started monitoring the 21-year-old’s circumstances and were mentioned as possible destinations as well.

Update on Dharmesh Sheth – Fabio Carvalho

Sheth knows that Southampton is one of the teams vying for Carvalho’s services for the balance of the season, but he also knows that Leicester and Ipswich Town, two other teams vying for promotion, are considering whether to make a loan offer.

Reaching a deal with Liverpool could give Martin an advantage over Saints’ domestic rivals. The wide-man, who still has three and a half years left on his £40,000-per-week contract at Anfield, could be the difference-maker in the race to secure a spot in the Premier League, according to the Sky Sports reporter.
