Confirmed: Milan promise to salvage transfer regret from the summer..

Riccardo Calafiori was extensively linked with a summer move to AC Milan, but he eventually joined Bologna. The outcome could not have been better for the player, but the Rossoneri are now left with some sorrow.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan considered signing Calafiori as Theo Hernandez’s replacement. They were only willing to offer a loan with a purchase option, which Basel did not enjoy.

Bologna instead entered the race and agreed to pay €4 million plus bonuses for Calafiori. The former left-back has been a huge success for the Rossoblu under Thiago Motto, flourishing in the middle of the defense.

His strong start to the season has caught the attention of Napoli, and Luciano Spalletti is ready to call him up to the national squad. As the report continues, Milan has reason to be disappointed.

It remains to be seen whether the Rossoneri will make another bid for Calafiori in the future, given that a left-back may still be required. However, it appears they have learned their lesson, since they have signed Filippo Terracciano from Hellas Verona this month rather than in the summer.
