Revealed: Reasons why Milan put brake on pursuit of Verona talent..

Over the past several days, AC Milan appeared to be making considerable headway in their chase of Filippo Terracciano, but reports indicate that this momentum has since stalled.

Following Tuesday’s meeting between the directors and the player’s agent, Andrea D’Amico, Terracciano appeared to be “one step away” from Milan, but the deal has since slowed down, according to this morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews).

The explanation is straightforward: the need to acquire a new full-back has diminished due to the performances of some of the younger players in the Coppa Italia victory against Cagliari, including Alex Jimenez, who performed admirably at left-back, as well as the competition from Fiorentina, Bologna, and Juventus.

Milan has since stepped back from the Terracciano negotiations. A new central defender appears to be the top priority following Matteo Gabbia’s return, but even in this scenario, Jan-Carlo Simic’s encouraging performances in recent weeks might alter the plans.
