Julian Humprey Decides to Stay With Georgia; Takes Name Out of Transfer Portal
After saying he was entering the transfer portal again, Julian Humphrey has decided to stay with the team.
One of Georgia’s cornerbacks is staying in the news this week with the uncertainty of what he would do regarding his presence with the team. Before the Orange Bowl, Julian Humphrey announced he would enter the transfer portal with fellow cornerback Daniel Harris. Following the game, the two decided to take their names out of the portal and stay with the team.
Following the two announcements, news broke once more last night that Humphrey would be entering the transfer portal again and using his three years of eligibility elsewhere. Just 21 hours later, Humphrey decided again that he would be staying in Athens with the Bulldogs.
A report from On3 broke this news and Humphrey’s reasoning as to why he wants to stay with the Bulldogs. The article has an interview with Humphrey, giving him a chance to explain the uncertainty. The following comments are exerted from the interview.
“‘I took that into consideration a lot,’ Humphrey told DawgsHQ in an exclusive interview, speaking specifically on UGA’s continued pursuit. ‘I know with a great year at Georgia, I can get to the NFL. The more I thought about this, why would I leave Georgia for a couple more bucks? I want to be there, it is Georgia and that is one of the top premier programs in the country.'”
Whether or not Humphrey will be with the team by the end of the transfer portal window will be solely up to him, but it is great news for Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp as they won’t be losing a valued piece to their defensive success from the 2023 season.
