Breaking News: Ohio State Buckeyes Lose Former Top 60 Wide Receiver Recruit To The Transfer Portal

Breaking: The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost a wide receiver recruit who was ranked in the top 60 to the transfer portal.

As soon as the transfer portal opened, a flood of players left the Ohio State Buckeyes. They are witnessing another one following their defeat by Missouri in the bowl game. Noah Rogers, a former top-60 recruit, declared he was going to use the transfer site.

In the 2023 cycle, Rogers was a five-star recruit and was ranked 52nd in the nation by On3. He did not see the field in 2023 because to the log jam at wide receiver. This made him look elsewhere, especially in light of the fact that additional elite wide receiver recruits are probably going to enter the competition in the near future. Roger probably chose to transfer after deciding to read the writing on the wall. Given his North Carolina background, he should face intense competition for his services.

Fear For The Buckeyes And Ryan Day?
There is one aspect of this circumstance that I find intriguing. Due to a lack of playing time, Rogers is the second-best wide receiver recruit in the 2023 cycle to transfer out of Ohio State. Obtaining the receivers is a terrific thing, but there seems to be more pressure to use them right away. Although I don’t blame the Buckeyes for starting Marvin Harrison Jr. over Rogers, it seems like they should be more selective in who they sign as wide receivers. If they don’t get playing time right away, they’ll probably move in order to get it, which could hurt the program later on if they don’t have enough talent to fill the roster.

Is there cause for concern given the large-scale player departure? It’s undoubtedly bad, and Ryan Day will have a lot on his plate in 2024.
