Sunderland pick out name for January signing – Loan with purchase option that is possible

Alan Virginius of LOSC Lille has been identified by Sunderland as a possible transfer window target for the January transfer window; a loan agreement may be in the works.

Foot Mercato claims that the young player has grown “disillusioned” with life at the French club and may try to depart this month.

They clarify that Virginius moved to Lille from Sochaux eighteen months ago, dissatisfied with his life at the club after a rapid ascent to the top of Ligue 2 and a position in the French U20 squad.

It’s evident that Lille does not consider him a part of their plans after he has only achieved five appearances this season, three of which have been in the Europa Conference League.
Now that the time has come for him to decide if it’s better somewhere else, Sunderland, Young Boys, and Clermont Foot are among the teams that have “checked the name” of the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

The latter are making the strongest push and have already put in a proposal, proposing a loan with a bonus option that would allow it to be purchased for about €4.5 million.

Therefore, if Sunderland wants that deal as well, it might be in the works even though they haven’t made a bid yet.

However, given that Young Boys are already moving and eager to sign Virginius this month, they might want to do so quickly.
