JUST IN: Another Aston Villa star will now miss PL clash v Burnley after fresh update emerges – report

Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has picked up a hamstring injury and he will be definitely out in the Premier League clash against Burnley.

Digne picked up an injury during Villa’s defeat against Manchester United and Unai Emery has confirmed today that the French defender could be out for nearly a month.

Villa will be looking to return to winning ways when they face Burnley on Saturday (30 December) in the Premier League. They will be without Youri Tielemans as well. The Belgian midfielder picked up a calf injury against Arsenal and he has missed the club’s last four matches in all competitions.

Digne has been playing really well this season and his absence will come as a blow for Villa. Emery has confirmed that Alex Merono is likely to replace him. Pau Torres has also returned to training but he needs more time to regain his full sharpness.

“Lucas Digne is injured and he will be out of the team for some weeks,” said Emery, as quoted by Birmingham Mail.

“He was playing very good, but we have to try now to replace him with Alex Moreno after his long injury. I think Moreno is ready and we hope he is coming back in 20, 25 days, Lucas Digne.”

Strong result needed
Villa have failed to win their last two games in the Premier League and Emery will demand a strong performance from his players. The Spanish boss will be boosted by the return of Matty Cash who picked up a one-match suspension.

Burnley are heading into this game after their 2-0 defeat against Liverpool but they have done well away from home this season. Can Vincent Kompany mastermind a crucial win at Villa Park where the home side haven’t lost a game for ages?

Having said that Villa did drop points against Sheffield United at home, and Emery will be really disappointed if they fail to pick up all three points.
