Cameron Martinez, a safety from Ohio State, is moving to Boston College.
Ohio State safety Cameron Martinez declared his decision to transfer to Boston College on Saturday afternoon.
Martinez played in three of his four years at Ohio State, including all twelve and thirteen games in 2021 and 2022, albeit he only ever started two of those games. He was utilized well as a backup role player for nickel packages in the Ohio State defensive backfield, where he amassed 38 career tackles and even scored a pick-six. He has chosen to switch to BC, however, after getting hurt in 2023 and seeing his position decrease over the season.
The secondary, which struggled greatly this season—especially after seasoned CB Elijah Jones was sidelined for the entire campaign—gains another valuable addition with this acquisition for Jeff Hafley. Hafley and his staff are hopeful that the secondary can regain its high level of play from previous years by adding a seasoned presence along with a few new players.
Cameron, welcome to the Heights!
