The Celtics have completed Harry Kewell’s exit, according to Australian journalist Sacha Pisani.
Ange Postecoglou’s former team, Yokohama F. Marinos, who just traded Maeda and Iwata to Celtic, is expected to be led by the Celtic coach.
John Hutchinson, a fellow citizen who serves as Yokohama’s assistant manager at the moment, will work with Kewell in Japan.
The news first broke in Japan, although the rumors have been going around for weeks. It appears that the confirmation of the nomination is just a matter of time. Since the Japanese season ended a few weeks ago and they won’t be starting for the new campaign until the end of February, there isn’t much of a rush on their part.
Ange Postecoglou recruited Kewell to Celtic, but once the manager left to join Spurs, the former winger remained at the club and became a member of Brendan Rodgers’ coaching staff.
He’s had tight working relationships with a few players; Palma has publicly celebrated some of his goals with the coach. The team will miss him, but if Rodgers thinks Kewell should be replaced, he will have a backup plan.
