Bradford City manager Graham Alexander complimented his team following their comeback win away at Doncaster Rovers on Friday night.
Bradford fans will be overjoyed with the early Christmas present they received just three days before the 25th.
After only seven minutes, Joe Ironside threatened to steal the away fans’ holiday mood in the Yorkshire Derby. But the Bantams were not about to give up their unbeaten league record that easy.
Only 20 minutes later, the nearly 3,000-strong away crowd was treated to an equalizer as Andy Cook pulled his team level before assisting strike partner Tyler Smith just before halftime.
Cook sealed the three points for his side in the 85th minute, extending their winning streak to four league matches in a row.
Alexander, who joined Valley Parade three weeks after being released by MK Dons, was full of praise for his new club in comments posted on the club’s official website.
“I am delighted with the players once again,” the 52-year-old said.
“In the previous games, we had a lot going for us, especially scoring the first goal.” So we knew we’d have to confront a hurdle like being a goal down early on at some time.
“I was curious to see how the team would react when it happened.” The reaction I witnessed was just great. I didn’t see any of the guys take a step back; we just kept playing the game and sticking to our approach. That is a huge indicator of how far we’ve come with this group.”
Doncaster are now winless in their previous three games, with games against promotion hopefuls Notts County and Mansfield Town filling out their 2023 schedule.
Bradford City face Morecambe and league leaders Stockport County in their festive fixtures as they look to move into the play-off places.
