With Sassuolo’s match against AC Milan next week, Stefano Pioli’s future with the team is in doubt and could be fired. According to a report, Ignazio Abate, the manager of Primavera, has already been lined up by the management as a temporary fix.
Pioli’s job is in serious jeopardy after Friday’s 2-2 tie with Salernitana; Milan won’t fire him just yet, but the matchup with Sassuolo will be crucial for the manager. If he doesn’t win there, he’ll probably become sick.
Calciomercato.com reports that Milan will not bring in a well-known player from outside the country to replace Pioli in the event of a dismissal. Rather, they will choose an intermediate solution and promote Primavera manager Abate until the end of the season.
Primavera of Milan has performed admirably this season; they are now four points behind Inter, the league leaders. A week ago, the derby concluded with a 1-1 draw, and the standings are even more remarkable given that Abate was compelled to give up numerous players to Pioli (Simic, Camarda, Zeroli, Nsiala, and more).
What happens the following week is still unknown, although Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to have some influence. Notably, Abate has a close friendship with the Swede, thus it’s possible that he may advocate for that resolution.
