latest Birmingham Aston Villa newslive from Villa Park as Villans take on Sheffield United
When Sheffield United comes to Aston Villa this evening, manager Unai Emery will be missing Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans from the team.
Following an ankle injury sustained during the victory over Brentford, Torres was replaced by Nicolo Zaniolo. Tielemans was still recovering from a calf injury, therefore he was also out of the game.
Emery’s team has won their past three games after rallying to defeat Brentford in west London last time out. The Villans would go to the top of the standings ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool if they defeated Chris Wilder’s team.
During his Thursday press conference, Emery stated: “Pau Torres, it’s his ankle.” It’s just a little wound. His progress depends on how he shows up every day. I’m not sure if he’ll be able to play for Manchester United, but he might.”
Man United (December 26) could be back.
Regarding Tielemans, Emery stated: “Youri Tielemans is out, we are thinking maybe not more than two weeks, but he is now working alone and recovering his injury in his calf.”
Everton may make a comeback on January 14.
Traore, Bertrand
After the November international break, Traore suffered an injury and returned to Bodymoor Heath, according to Emery. This season, he has only appeared in two league games.
Unknown: Potential comeback.
Tyrone Mings Mings sustained a permanent knee injury during the season-opening loss against Newcastle United.
