Leeds United’s summer attacking midfield target, Ilias Chair, has stated his current commitment to QPR at the moment, as he looks to help Marti Cifuentes’ side out of the relegation zone before January.
The Whites didn’t get a whole lot wrong when looking at their incoming signings, adding much-needed depth across the board under Daniel Farke.
It wasn’t a perfect summer window, with some positions still needing more depth heading into January, and the club could look to take talent from their EFL rivals.
Leeds could have done with an attacking midfielder in the summer window, knowing how well Farke’s Norwich City side operated with Emi Buendia, and it wasn’t for a lack of trying that they didn’t land one.
Nadiem Amiri’s talks collapsed through no fault of the club’s, but Leeds held interest in other names, including QPR’s Ilias Chair, on deadline day.
Sources indicated to LeedsAllOver on September 1 that the club was committed to paying a seven-figure fee for Chair before the deadline, but time constraints meant the deal was never going to be completed in time.
The chair speaks out on QPR’s future
Chair has been asked about his future when speaking to Football League World, to which he underlined his current commitment to Marti Cifuentes’ side.
He said:
“My full focus is on QPR at the moment so I cannot be distracted by anything else. I owe this club a lot of things, the least I can do is concentrate on every game and every training session I have for QPR.
“If anything ever came about then that is the time to think about that. Right now, it’s just about QPR. It’s about getting the best out of myself and getting the best out of this team.”
