Wolves could open exit door for player in January – Club ‘step up’ for signing, ‘really like’ him

Genoa have set their sights on Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fábio Silva for January.

That’s according to Il Secolo XIX, who state the Serie A side’really like’ the 21-year-old.

The forward returned to Wolves in the summer after spending 18 months on loan at PSV Eindhoven. Things haven’t gone well so far for him at Molineux under Gary O’Neil’s orders this season.

Silva has been restricted to 373 minutes of action from 10 games, which includes three starts in the Premier League. He’s scored only once, and it came in Wolves’ 5-0 win over Blackpool in the EFL Cup.

 

Taking his form and current situation into account, the report states the Premier League side is considering sending him out on loan next month.

This seems to have alerted Genoa, as it’s explained that they have’stepped up’ to sign the former FC Porto man, just like Monza.

The two Italian clubs are expected to face competition from the Bundesliga. In addition to this, the cost of the deal would be ‘particularly high’ [likely for Genoa], also because Silva currently earns £4 million [€4.6 million] per year at Wolves.

Genoa would have to find a way to convince the Wolves if they wish to sign the Portugal U21 international on loan in January.
