Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher feels Leicester City should not have been awarded a penalty on Saturday because of a handball in the build-up.
Schumacher thought Stephy Mavididi handled the ball before he was fouled for the spot kick, which he converted for the opening goal of the game. Both Plymouth were adamant that Leicester would have been awarded the decision if it happened at the opposite end of the pitch, and they told the referee as much afterwards.
“I’m asking the fourth official and the referee about handball and they said because it came off his knee and then hit his arm, it’s not a handball,” said Schumacher.
“I said to Sunny (referee Sunny Singh Gill) at the end of the game ‘If that was at the other end and their fans were all screaming for handball I guarantee they get it’, so disappointed that he hasn’t given it, but that isn’t the deciding factor of the game.
“The game was tight for the first 10 minutes. They got the advantage and then looked good for probably 10 minutes after that. Then I felt we started to grow into it and what we had worked on we started to get some sort of success from.
“We created two or three brilliant chances and we hit the target a couple of times. We just didn’t have enough quality to put it in the back of the net, and that’s probably the difference between the two teams.
“We all knew before the game that was going to be the case. They have got better players than us and are more clinical, and have played at a better level and we are doing as best as we can.”
