After sealing their place in the last 16 of the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening, Villa are back on the road again on Sunday. They take on Brentford at the G-Tech Community Stadium as they look to make it three Premier League wins in a row.

Villa have earned praise from around the game for their performances and results in games against Manchester City and Arsenal in their last two outings in the league. Villa came out a 1-0 winners in both games to start talk of possibly challenging for the title this season.

Ahead of the game against the Bees, Lawrenson has pointed to Villa’s away form compared to their form at home this season. He’s not as full of praise for Unai Emery’s side as others have been, even referring to the praise being received as a ‘love-in’.

“This is going to be a really good test for Aston Villa,” he told PaddyPower . “I don’t think they’re anything like the same team away from home playing that high line that teams like Brentford would normally punish.

“Brentford are missing some key players and Bryan Mbeumo’s now out too. Everybody’s got this love-in with Villa, and they are very, very good at home and they’ve got a good manager, but I don’t think they’re going to finish in the top four. I’m going to go for a draw.”

Mark Lawrenson’s prediction: Brentford 1-1 Aston Villa

Villa currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, just one point behind Arsenal in second position. Ahead of Tottenham’s game against Nottingham Forest, they were five points clear of the fifth-placed team.
