Millwall reveal touching John Berylson tribute plan

Millwall has submitted plans to rename Zampa Road after John Berylson, the club has announced.

The Lions have put in a request with Southwark Council to make the change as a tribute to their former owner and chairman, who died in July at the age of 70.

Zampa Road, the small street that leads directly to The Den, would be called “John Berylson Way” if the application is approved.

Millwall say they have been in close communication with the local community over the plans.

Berylson was beloved by fans and his death in a car accident earlier this year came as a shock to all at the club.

Pre-match tributes were paid to him before Millwall’s first home league game of the season against Bristol City.

John’s son James was named as the new chairman at The Den earlier this year.
