Tony Brown Drops 3 ‘Ugly’ Words West Brom Admission Straight After Win vs Rotherham United

Tony Brown believes it “wasn’t the best” performance from West Brom despite their victory over Rotherham United on Tuesday (12 December).

Speaking on BBC Radio WM on Tuesday night (12 December, 09:41pm), Bomber Brown said there was “nothing to write about” in the first half as it was an “ugly” game.

But he added that the Albions players “dug in” to claim the three points as second-half goals from Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace secured a 2-0 win at The New York Stadium.

“There was nothing to write about [in the first half], it was an ugly game,” said Brown.

“It wasn’t the best but Albion dug in there and they kept a clean sheet and they kept Rotherham at bay.

“They were putting pressure on. Albion found it hard to get out in the first half, in the early stages. But they dug in there and got the win.”

It perhaps wasn’t a vintage performance from West Brom, but all that really matters is that they came away from South Yorkshire with the three points.

Albion soaked up some pressure from Rotherham and capitalised on their chances in the second half, with Diangana making the breakthrough before Wallace sealed the victory with an excellent free-kick in injury time.

The most important thing was for the Baggies to get back to winning ways after they had previously suffered back-to-back defeats against Leicester City and Sunderland.

A victory and a clean sheet away from home in the Championship is something that’s never to be sniffed at, even if it was against the side at the bottom of the table.

Carlos Corberan will now be looking for his side to back the result up against Stoke City on Sunday (17 December) at the Hawthorns as the hectic Christmas period approaches.

In other West Brom news, John Percy has shared an Albion update on the EFL owners and directors’ test.
