Report: As the club rekindles interest, the rarely seen £80k-per-week Wolves ace will depart in January.

Fabio Silva has had a severe lack of minutes at Wolves in recent weeks, and the player is reportedly now back on the transfer radar of Freiburg.

After Gary O’Neil laid down the gauntlet to the youngster, he has barely played for the Wolves, with Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan the preferred options right now.

Silva has not played a single minute in any of Wolves’ last five Premier League games.

His last start in the competition came back in September against Crystal Palace.

Considering it looked as though Silva was going to leave the Wolves in the summer, there is now a strong possibility he could depart in January.

It looks as though there’s at least one club already looking at swooping…

It has been reported by Fussball Transfers and BILD that Bundesliga outfit Freiburg are again keen on Silva.

The publication mentions how Freiburg were keen on Silva in the summer, but the player opted to stay put in the end. Of course, it is known that Matt Hobbs played a key role in keeping the player.

It is stated that Freiburg could make a fresh attempt to sign the 21-year-old.

Gary O’Neil is said to be keen to land a new striker in January in order to hand Cunha more of a free role at Molineux.

Should the head coach be successful in his plan, then that would have a big impact on £80,000-a-week man Silva, who is already really struggling for minutes.

Silva’s exit would be no surprise at this point

Given how things have panned out in recent weeks, it would now come as no surprise if Silva left the Wolves in January. The question is more about what kind of basis he will leave.

It just has not happened again for Silva, unfortunately.

He did get some chances earlier in the season, but seemingly he just isn’t quite doing it for O’Neil, who absolutely loves Cunha and Hwang.

The recent system change and the injury to Pedro Neto have not helped him, with Cunha and Hwang sometimes operating as partners up top.

Realistically, Silva does need to get out in January because it isn’t good for him to be sitting on the bench at his age when he needs to be developing.
