Newcastle co-owner issues personal statement following the horrific night at SJP

After Newcastle United’s sad defeat to AC Milan last night, co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi sent a personal message to fans.

He thanks the players for taking us on a ‘great ride’ over the last few months, believing we deserved more, but maintains we still have a long season ahead of us and will ‘pull ourselves up’ for Saturday’s Premier League showdown with Fulham following three consecutive defeats.

Ghodoussi believes the ‘future is bright’ at Newcastle, believing we are ‘creating something exceptional’ and will ‘continue to improve’ after learning a painful lesson on Europe’s biggest stage last night.

Here’s what he had to say during a post-match post on Twitter:

‘I want to thank each and every one of you for your tremendous support tonight.

‘The staff gave their best and led us on an unbelievable journey over the last three months. We deserved better, but that’s football.

‘We will pick ourselves up and focus on Saturday. We’ve got a long season ahead of us.

‘As I’ve already stated, we are creating something extraordinary here, and we will continue to expand. The future looks promising.’
