Clement Lenglet, who is currently on loan from Barcelona to Aston Villa, has been added to Milan’s list of targets to refill their defense in January. The Rossoneri require reinforcements after losing Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu to serious thigh injuries, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Before transferring to Tottenham, the Frenchman had previously been on their radar. He left again temporarily last summer, this time to Birmingham. He has failed to gain playing time in the European Conference League, appearing only five times.
Milan will investigate whether they can obtain Lenglet from Barcelona using the same method. Jakub Kiwior is their preferred candidate for the post, but Arsenal will not allow him leave despite the fact that he is not a starter.
The Rossoneri are also in talks with Villarreal about ending Matteo Gabbia’s loan early and bringing him back in the forthcoming window.
Our Take on Milan and Lenglet
Their intentions will not change as they will still be busy in the second part of the season and will require another defender. They might have gotten by if they had been kicked out of Europe entirely. They are correct in seeking a band-aid, given the injuries sustained by their two young players are not season-ending. He’s far more established than Gabbia, but also far more expensive in terms of compensation. He isn’t getting much playing time, but convincing two clubs isn’t easy.
