Liverpool fans will have big smiles on their faces because they are sitting top of the Premier League table.

But on Tuesday, some worrying images emerged when Alexis Mac Allister posted an injury update on Instagram.

The Liverpool midfielder was forced off injured during his side’s win at Sheffield United last week. At first, it seemed as though all would be okay, but that now doesn’t seem to be the case.

Well, one thing is for sure, Alexis Mac Allister won’t be facing his brother when the Reds take on Union SG in the Europa League on Thursday, nor will he be available for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday.

The £35 million summer signing told fans on Instagram that he will be ‘committed in my recovery’, as he added his message with a picture of him on crutches.

Not a good look at all and you would assume that Klopp will provide a clearer answer when he speaks to the media again.

Nonetheless, in the comments section of Alexis Mac Allister’s IG post, Luis Diaz told his teammate ‘go for it, brother’, whilst his national teammate and Aston Villa star, Emiliano Martinez sent love heart emojis and Ibrahima Konate told him to ‘get well soon’.

Liverpool top of the Premier League table
It’s a great thing that Liverpool have already booked their knockout ticket in the Europa League, so Klopp can play a weaker side if he wishes.

Then attention will turn to maintaining top spot in the Premier League table, with the small matter of Manchester United visiting Anfield on Sunday.

Given the mess Manchester United are in, then this is another chance for Liverpool to well and truly wipe the floor with their old rivals.

The likes of Gary Neville will be getting flashbacks of that 7-0 demolition job last season because this could get messy at the weekend.
