Jamie Redknapp admits £25m Aston Villa Brilliant  player has completely proved him wrong

Jamie Redknapp has made an admission concerning Leon Bailey following the Aston Villa star’s winner against Manchester City in midweek.

Redknapp was speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 9/12; 17:06) ahead of the Villans’ win against Arsenal on Saturday, noting that he had his doubts over whether the Jamaica international was good enough for the Premier League.

Heading into this season, Leon Bailey had scored six goals and provided six assists in 54 games in all competitions for the Villans.

He has already eclipsed those tallies in the opening 22 games of this campaign. Bailey now has eight goals and seven assists, with nine of those goal contributions coming in the Premier League.

His latest came to set up John McGinn for the winner against Arsenal on Saturday. And speaking ahead of the game, Jamie Redknapp conceded that the winger had completely proved him wrong this term.

“Throughout every area of the pitch, they’re dangerous. Leon Bailey, I thought he’s not good enough for the Premier League. I mean, look at him now and he’s scoring winning goals against Manchester City,” he told Sky Sports.

Aston Villa most definitely in title contention
In truth, what Redknapp said about Bailey could potentially apply to a number of players within the Villa squad.
