28-Year-Old Has Just Made A Complete U-Turn And Now Wants To Stay At West Ham – Report
Said Benrahma faces a very uncertain future at West Ham United as rumours continue to swirl regarding a potential exit from the club.
West Ham signed Said Benrahma on loan from Brentford in October 2020, before making his move a permanent one just three months later for around £30 million (The Athletic).
: Benrahma on the highest position he thinks West Ham can finish in the Premier League this season
The 28-year-old has never hit the heights that were expected of him with the Hammers though, and he has been heavily linked with a London Stadium exit recently.
It has been suggested that Benrahma is not happy one little bit with his lack of game-time under David Moyes right now.
The Algeria international has been in woeful form this season with zero goals and just one assist to his name in 17 games (Transfermarkt).
Benrahma is a shell of his former self and seems to be totally devoid of confidence right now. It would not surprise me one little bit if he moves on either in January or next summer. However, it seems as though there could be a turn up for the books regarding Benny’s future…
Said Benrahma makes West Ham U-turn
Fennec Football claims that Benrahma is set to reject approaches from numerous Saudi clubs, and will choose to remain with the Hammers instead.
That represents a huge 180 about turn, considering how unhappy he was said to be at the club recently. Benny may well be set to stay now.
I’m not sure that’s what we want is it? He has been so poor for us this season, that moving him on for a decent fee actually seems like quite an appealing prospect.
Moyes doesn’t have lavish funds at his disposal to strengthen his squad, so selling someone like Benrahma would be a wise move.
If the Algerian really does want to stay at West Ham though, it seems like we may find it hard to move him on.
Said Benrahma still have two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract with West Ham, so there is certainly no rush to sell him.
And after his latest U-turn, the former Brentford man may well see out the end of that deal in East London.
