Blackpool CEO makes key man admission as Huddersfield Town’s recall window approaches
Blackpool CEO Julian Winter says Jordan Rhodes has delivered exactly what the club expected since he joined the club on loan from Huddersfield Town.
The striker has bagged 11 goals in League One so far this season, and has been a crucial player for Neil Critchley’s side.
It is currently unknown whether Rhodes’ parent club will choose to recall the 33-year-old during the January transfer window, with Terriers’ manager Darren Moore still weighing up his options.
Winter states the Seasiders are currently calm about the situation, and admits they are prepared for any scenario.
“There’s a window which they can trigger a recall but it’s in their court,” he explained.
“I don’t think I’ve ever come across a club that leaves it late if they want a loan player to return, they usually make that decision pretty quickly. We’ll know relatively early in January if that’s the case, but it’s not within our gift. We’ve just got to prepare for that possibility.
“The recruitment team is constantly working on options for all scenarios, and that’s an obvious one- everyone will talk about Jordan and say ‘what if.’
“We don’t know what Huddersfield are thinking at this stage. He’ll concentrate with us and we’ll see what happens- hopefully it’s a positive outcome for us.
“He’s such an intelligent footballer, and his ability to be in the right place at the right time is second to none. He’s shown he can score all kinds of goals in this league. What’s not to like about him? He’s also a fabulous guy.
“Everyone that meets him will see he’s a fantastic fella, and he’s done what it says on the tin. He’s come in and scored goals.”
Karamoko Dembele is another player who has impressed while on loan with the Seasiders so far this season.
A number of fans would be keen to see the ex-Celtic wonderkid and Rhodes potentially extend their stay at Bloomfield Road on a permanent basis.
“Both players are enjoying themselves, but it’s too early to talk about what might happen beyond this season,” Winter added.
“Jordan’s circumstances at Huddersfield are his circumstances at Huddersfield, so we’ve got to let that play out.”
