Injury helped Newcastle sign a ‘really intelligent’ 21-year-old star this summer, according to reports…

Newcastle United’s recruitment has increased dramatically since the takeover and the appointment of Eddie Howe as manager.

There was only one questionable transfer, and the problems were beyond Newcastle’s control. The Sandro Tonali situation is extremely frustrating, but the Magpies had no control over it.

Even the Chris Wood transaction served a purpose. While he did not score as many goals as the club had hoped, he was an important player at times, and Dan Ashworth got a good price for him when he sold him to Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle’s transfer business has been spectacular overall, and Tino Livramento best exemplifies that right now.

The 21-year-old arrived for £32 million from Southampton in the summer, despite Chelsea being interested in the defender.
However, he did not fancy a return to Stamford Bridge, allowing Eddie Howe to get his man.
He arrived as a deputy to Kieran Trippier, but has already developed into a key player for the Magpies. Livramento has been utilised at left-back as of late and has been turning heads with his performances.
He was particularly brilliant against Manchester United, with Ally McCoist describing him as a ‘really intelligent‘ footballer.

Injury helped Newcastle sign Tino Livramento

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle fast-tracked their interest in Livramento following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship.

The report states that the Magpies decided it was better to buy Livramento now rather than wait until other clubs became interested after he proved his fitness.

The defender missed the majority of the 2022–23 season due to injury, which is why clubs wanted to see him get back up to speed before committing to a transfer.

But Newcastle had clearly made up their minds. They wanted Tino and stole a march on their rivals to bring in a player who is perfect for both the present and the future.

He is already proving to be a spectacular signing, and there is still so much more to come from him.
