Huddersfield Town have taken five points from their last three Championship matches as Darren Moore bids to steer the club away from the relegation zone
Darren Moore has stated that the staff at Huddersfield Town are “working extremely hard” to move the club forward. Last week, Terriers owner Kevin Nagle backed the manager, who had only two victories in 12 games since taking over in September.
Moore wants to get his club out of the relegation zone, as they are currently fourth-from-bottom in the championship. Moore, on the other hand, acknowledged that a collaborative effort has been made to advance the football club both on and off the field.
Moore stated, “I’m extremely grateful to have the chairman’s support.” We’re all working together to move Huddersfield Town forward, including the chairman, Jake Edwards, Mark Cartwright, and Lee Maybury.
“While outside of this, people may not see the work that’s going on inside the football club, we are working extremely hard to continue to move this club in the right direction.
“Though we may look at it on the football pitch, there are loads of areas at this football club where we’re looking to progress and move forward. Obviously, the chairman is the main catalyst for that, and his aspirations for the football club are being implemented by us all.
“We’re just all on the same page in trying to move this football club forward. For me, it’s nice to have that, but upon arriving at the football club, there was that support and that continued support is valuable.”
The Terriers have taken five points from their last three matches against Southampton, Sunderland, and Swansea City, which would have been seven but for the Swans’ injury-time equaliser on Saturday.
“Sometimes when you get a plant and you put the seed in soil with water and a bit of sunlight, it takes time for that plant to show its true worth,” said Moore at his press conference last week.
“It’s probably an analogy with football; when you take over a team and a football club and it’s all new and there are so many different departments that have to align, you want to quickly align those departments, and that’s what we’re doing at this football club.
“We continue to work hard; we continue to try and overcome those little bumps in the road that we’re going to face and have, and it’s part of the process when you are moving and going forward.
“We understand that, but what we need to do is keep maintaining as a group of people, players, and staff our standards, keep pushing and stretching those standards in order to get those results, and that’s what we have to continue doing.”
One area in particular that the Terriers need to work on as a side is getting greater control in games. Town have had an average of just over 24 percent possession across their last six matches, while they have had a total of 35 shots in that time compared to their opponents’ 114.
“That’s one aspect of us that we’re looking at, in terms of maintaining and having a fair share of the possession of the ball,” Moore said.
“I think that’s where we can get better and need to get better. That’s probably one area, and we’ll work on that, and we’ll continue to work on that, in terms of going forward, but you’ve got to take large aspects of the opposition as well [into account] in terms of where they are in their journey.
“We’ve just got to appreciate where we are in our journey, very much at the start of our journey, so there are so many aspects of our game that we want to increase and get better at and need to get better at, and that’s something that, with the return of one or two players that we’ve got coming off the [treatment] table, will help the team with that.”
