‘I know,’ says Mark Guidi as he makes a fascinating Celtic transfer claim ahead of the January transfer window.

Celtic’s intentions heading into the January transfer window have been clear. Brendan Rodgers has warned that he wants to strengthen, and he will make sure that they do that.

The Champions League results and their current lacklustre performances in the Scottish Premiership show that the team is lacking a spark, and Rodgers intends to add that in just over four weeks.

How many players the Celtic manager has his eye on is unclear, but journalist Mark Guidi has said that he ‘knows’ that the club is active in the market already and is working on targets for a number of positions in the team.

Guidi said [on The Go Radio Football Show], “I think he’s made it clear that they’ll be working on targets; in fact, I know they are working on targets now for guys in certain positions to get in the door.

“So Brendan Rodgers knows what’s needed; there’s no doubt about that. He wants to try, first and foremost, to win the league and then make an impact in Europe in some shape or form.

“There’s certainly got to be an improvement from the past two seasons in terms of results.”

TBR Celtic have already mentioned that they need at least five first-team-ready players to make a material impact in the Champions League after Guidi said they could spend up to £15 million in January.

Celtic was taught harsh lessons in Europe, and Rodgers hopes to learn from them. With Joe Hart, Greg Taylor, and the need for a new striker all under scrutiny, the Celtic manager will have his work cut out for him in order to complete the essential signings in such a short period of time.

But January will be a start, and if Rodgers can bring in at least a handful of the players he has targeted, the club will be well-positioned for Europe next season.
