The renowned Golden Boy Award has been added to Jude Bellingham’s increasing list of honors.

Former Birmingham City midfielder Bellingham was named the world’s top under-21 player on Monday evening. He joins a lengthy list of notable winners, including Lionel Messi and current Blues boss Wayne Rooney, whom Bellingham regards as major influences.

“All of them are top players and went on to have unbelievable careers after winning the award,” Bellingham went on to say. “It is an enormous honor to be included on that list.” Rooney was the most influential figure, in my opinion. Being from England and watching how he played and fought. I’ve grabbed bits from so many different gamers, and I’m very grateful to join that list.”

Bellingham has enjoyed a stellar year with club and country. He has become the star of Gareth Southgate’s England team at the age of 20 and has settled in seamlessly at new club Real Madrid after his British-record £115 million summer switch from Borussia Dortmund. Bellingham has provided 15 goals and four assists for Real Madrid in his first 17 matches.
