17-goal striker battling Harry Kane can be answer to O’Neil’s prayers at Wolves

Wolves have reportedly been in contact with intermediaries about a possible move for red-hot Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

90min claimed recently that Wanderers are one of several clubs in the frame to sign the Guinear international, who has been superb so far this season over in Germany.

Guirassy has bagged 16 goals in the Bundesliga so far, and a further goal in the Dfb-Pokal. Only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has scored more in the league.

Gary O’Neil is reportedly looking to sign a new number nine in January – and it could be that Guirassy is on his radar…

Wolves linked with Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy

90min reported ahead of the weekend that Wolves have been ‘contacted by intermediaries regarding Guirassy’s situation’, along with other clubs such as Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Guirassy’s camp believe all of these clubs have interest in the player, although there is nothing concrete at this stage.

Guirassy certainly has admirers, but there is also doubt cast on him moving in the next transfer window due to AFCON in January, with Guirassy set to represent Guinea.

That said, it is stated at the top of the report that his representatives are growing increasingly confident of the striker securing a move to another club in January.

Any swoop from another club next month is likely to cost around £15 million, which is the value of the player’s release clause.

Guirassy would be an exciting addition

It seems Wolves would be really up against it to sign Guirassy given the level of interest in him – but he would surely make a very exciting addition if Matt Hobbs and Gary O’Neil could somehow pull it off.

Guirassy – described by the official Bundesliga website as having a ‘masterful art of goalscoring’, a ‘clinical touch’ and ‘sublime skill’ – has been sensational this season.

He is rubbing shoulders with a world-class striker in Kane and may well push him for the Golden Boot.

O’Neil is after an out-and-out number nine and the 28-year-old would make a tremendous signing, as he can link play well and obviously score goals, which is the main thing.

Signing Guirassy could also be the move that allows Matheus Cunha to just drop back a little bit into a position he is more comfortable, with O’Neil admitting he is in a ‘weekly battle’ with the Brazilian about his best role.
