PNE were linked with the Liverpool man last week, along with league leaders Leicester City
Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe was taken aback last week when the Lilywhites were linked with Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah.
National media reports linked PNE to a loan interest in the 20-year-old, with league leaders Leicester City also mentioned. Quansah made his Liverpool debut in August and has since made nine appearances in all competitions for the Reds.
Quansah now finds himself in the Liverpool first team after spending the second half of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers in League One.
However, there is speculation that Liverpool may loan him out again during the upcoming transfer window. Preston manager Lowe is a big Liverpool fan and has a full back.
Calvin Ramsay is currently on loan for the season.
It’s believed that North End have expressed an interest in Quansah before, but Lowe has played down the possibility of a January move.
PNE have suffered injuries in defence over the course of the current campaign, but they are not short on numbers back there when everyone is fit.
“I don’t know where that came from, to be honest,” said Lowe, when asked about the links and if defence is an area he’ll be looking to strengthen. “Quansah is a fantastic player, but I don’t see him going out of Liverpool anytime soon if he’s playing in Europa League games. He will probably play tonight! So again, I don’t know where it came from. But he is a quality player, yeah.”
