The loanee has returned to his parent club for further assessments after suffering an apparent hamstring injury
Harrison Ashby has returned to Newcastle United as his ongoing injury concerns are investigated.
The 22-year-old has made 11 appearances since joining on loan from Newcastle United, but was forced to leave the recent draw with Hull City after suffering an apparent hamstring injury.
Unsurprisingly, Ashby did not make the trip to Leeds United on Wednesday night, with Michael Duff stating that he did not expect the full-back to be available for the visit of Huddersfield Town this weekend.
Despite the scan, Duff admits he’s still unsure about the extent of the problem, with Ashby returning to his parent club for further evaluations.
“He’s had a scan,” he said. “I don’t know 100 percent the diagnosis on it, but the two clubs are now talking. He’s gone back to Newcastle for the time being. He’s their player, so they want to investigate a bit more into what it actually is. Ultimately, from my point of view, he’s not available for the next two or three weeks. Until they do this investigation, we’re not quite sure where it’s at.”
Fellow full-back Kristian Pedersen is another injury concern heading into Saturday’s clash with the Terriers. The Dane is understood to have broken down in training after previously working his way back from a groin issue.
“He’s still not training,” Duff added. “He’s on the grass with the physios; Myko’s on the grass with the physios. Azeem’s on the grass with the physios. Joe Allen’s on the grass with the physios.
“So they’re getting closer, but they’re still not in contention for selection.”
However, one man who could potentially be back in first-team contention is Nathanael Ogbeta, who’s set to run out for the under-21s for their clash against Colchester United on Friday afternoon.
