“Certainly” See The 25-year-old star who desires to commit to Celtic for another season…

This season, Celtic have done an amazing job of locking down their best players with new, long-term contracts.

There were concerns that players like Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate might be lured to join their former manager in London after Ange Postecoglou left for Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Celtic acted swiftly to allay those worries by agreeing to new, long-term contracts with both players and, in the process, obtaining the signatures of six more players.

Irish defender Liam Scales was one person who never imagined he would be on the team, much less in the running for a new contract.

Scales’ story at Celtic this season has been nothing short of extraordinary, even though he appeared to be headed to Aberdeen.

An important first-team player, the 25-year-old was asked if he would like to extend his stay in Glasgow, and his answer was unequivocal. Scales said [Daily Record], “Yeah, definitely. I’m loving it here at the moment. As a kid from Ireland brought up here, this is where I’d want to be and play regularly.

I’m happy here and I definitely wouldn’t want to rush away from it. “It’s the happiest I’ve been in football these last few months, playing every week. If I can do that for as long as I can, then brilliant.

“But I put these things (contracts) to the back of my mind and let other people deal with that so I can get on with what goes on on the pitch.

“It’s great to hear the manager say that. It shows I’ve impressed and done what I’ve always wanted to do—get into the team and play regularly.”

This will be news to the Celtic supporters’ ears. The Scales deal ends at the end of next season, and Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen to get him tied up to a new one.

Hopefully, this will be done sooner rather than later, as recent transfer rumours suggest that the Republic of Ireland international is now attracting interest from clubs in Europe.
