CLUB SAY THERE IS ‘NO QUESTION’ OF £10M STRIKER JOINING WOLVES IN JANUARY
Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on the £10 million-rated Rafiu Durosinmi but Viktoria Plzen insist that there is ‘no question of a transfer at the moment’.
We thought they might say something like that.
With Viktoria Plzen struggling for form and falling adrift at the top of the Czech league table, they were hardly going to advertise Rafiu Durosinmi’s availability, The Telegraph reporting that there is interest from Wolves and club’s in Germany’s Bundesliga.
Durosinmi has been a shining light in a difficult season for Plzen.
Wolves and Brighton eye Rafiu Durosinmi
The latest in an increasingly long line of talented Nigerian forwards, the 20-year-old has an impressive nine goals and six assists in all competitions across 2023/24.
Speaking to CTK, Plzen spokesman Vaclav Hanlik did not confirm or deny reports indicating that Durosinmi could be on his way for £10 million. But he does say that, as things stand, the club have not received a bid they would consider acceptable.
“For the moment, there is no concrete offer on the table that would meet our expectations,” Hanzlik explains.
“There can therefore be no question of a transfer at the moment.”
Wolves, The Telegraph insist, are chasing a number nine in January. Matheus Cunha remains profligate in front of goal while Sasa Kalajdzic is yet to establish himself as a regular in Gary O’Neil’s XI, leaving the club concerningly reliant upon a career-best purple patch from Hwang Hee-Chan.
Another Nigerian striker emerges
Durosinmi is far from the finished article. The 6ft 4ins forward is just 20 years of age, after all, and his first touch remains a little ragged at times. But his potential is not in doubt, Durosinmi using his giant frame to excellent effect while earning comparisons with former Arsenal strikers Kanu and Emmanuel Adebayor.
Brighton and Hove Albion were linked via the Daily Mail a couple of weeks ago. And, tellingly, Roberto de Zerbi’s side don’t often get it wrong when it comes to unearthing diamonds in the rough.
Another of Durosinmi’s suitors, Eintracht Frankfurt, also boast a proud tradition of signing football’s next superstar strikers.
