‘I’d Be…’: Wolves Star Responds When Asked If Key Star Joining Newcastle Would Annoy Him
Max Kilman has been speaking about former Wolves captain Ruben Neves this morning amid speculation Newcastle United could make a January loan move for the maestro.

There has been quite a bit of talk about Neves making a move to St. James’ Park in January, with the Magpies currently having quite a lot of players unavailable.

They have lost midfielder Sandro Tonali for the foreseeable future after he was banned for violating better rules. Neves, who spent six years at Molineux, has been mentioned as a possible replacement.

But there has been controversy around the idea because Newcastle are owned by PIF, which also owns Neves’ club Al Hilal.

Premier League clubs have just voted against a temporary ban on related-party loans, though, so Newcastle are now free to pursue a potential Neves loan move in January should they so wish.

Today, new Wolves captain Kilman responded when asked if he’d be annoyed to see Neves make the move…

Max Kilman gives his honest verdict on Ruben Neves potentially joining Newcastle

It remains to be seen if Newcastle will go after Neves, and it is a situation many Wolves fans will definitely have eyes on.

While Neves’ move to Al Hilal was a surprise, quite a lot of Wolves supporters were pleased because it meant the playmaker would not be coming up against the club he served so loyally.

But now there is seemingly a chance he could return to the Premier League, and the idea is making a fair few fans uncomfortable.

On whether he’d find Neves joining Newcastle ‘annoying’, Kilman said on talkSPORT: “No, of course it would be hard to play against Neves because we played with him; he’d been at Wolves for so long and has been a phenomenal player.

“If he does come back, I’d be happy to see him and to play against him. He’s a great player, and he’d give Newcastle a boost.”

Many Wolves fans won’t like seeing Neves in a Newcastle shirt

Kilman may not find the idea of Neves playing for Newcastle annoying, but many Wolves fans likely will.

Newcastle are free to try and get him on loan in January now after the vote to temporarily ban related-party loans didn’t garner enough support.

The Wolves were actually one club that did vote against the temporary ban.

Neves was an amazing servant for the Wolves, and the thought of him wearing another Premier League shirt will be difficult for some to accept.

The 26-year-old made his move to Saudi Arabia, and for some, that was comforting because he would not be strengthening a Premier League rival club. So it’d perhaps be a kick in the teeth if Newcastle loaned Neves in just months after his Molineux exit.
