AC Milan enters the race for a striker, with Tottenham widely connected as the biggest player out of a huge game – Milan’s injury woes continues…

AC Milan are the latest team to enter the hunt for Tottenham target Santiago Gimenez, according to Tuttosport (as supplied by Football Transfers).

Spurs Web has relayed various reports in recent months that have talked up Tottenham’s prospects of signing Gimenez in January.

This includes a report from The Mirror on October 29 that the Lilywhites are confident after extensive scouting of the Mexican that he is the best choice to replace Harry Kane’s shoes.

According to the report, the Premier League club is willing to fulfill Feyenoord’s asking price for the prolific striker in January.

However, Spurs are not alone in their admiration of Gimenez, with the likes of Real Madrid (Fichajes) and Barcelona (Sport) also credited with an interest in the player over the last few weeks.

If TuttoSport’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs now have even more to contend with for Gimenez’s signature, with Milan eyeing a move for the player.

It is explained that Rossoneri are keen on adding a number nine to replace the departing Olivier Giroud in January and their top target is Montpellier’s Akor Adams.

However, with the Ligue 1 club not willing to entertain offers for the Nigerian, the Italian giants are allegedly ready to turn their attention to the Feyenoord star, whom they have watched closely.

Several sources this morning are spreading negative news about Rafael Leao’s condition in light of the two vital forthcoming games against Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund.

According to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Leao returned to Milan yesterday to continue treatment for his muscle problem after a few days of rest. The goal is straightforward: get rid of the hamstring injury he suffered at the start of the Lecce-Milan race as quickly as possible.

The winger is working hard to get back on the field and help the squad through a difficult period of the season, but his prospects of playing against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, November 28, are currently dwindling.

Leao’s absence from the match against BVB is almost certain, since a speedy recovery would be required to get him on the field at Milanello in time to build up fitness for the game. Milan will thus be without their most potent weapon in perhaps the most important game of the season thus far, demonstrating that they are unable to find peace with injuries this season.
