Celtic are likely to receive a financial windfall as a result of ‘interest’ from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool…

Celtic could be set to lay their hands on a tidy sum of cash as clubs circle former player Jeremie Frimpong.

According to recent rumors, Celtic could be in for a cash bonanza, as a number of high-profile clubs have been linked with a prospective deal for Jeremie Frimpong.

Frimpong’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen has a sell-on option that allows the Hoops to recoup 30% of his transfer fee if he leaves for another club, which, considering how highly he is regarded by numerous major clubs, could be a sizable sum.
Frimpong played 36 games in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic, scoring three goals along the way. He joined Leverkusen for an unknown fee in January 2021, making 80 Bundesliga games and scoring 12 goals since then.

On top of this, he has also won a single cap for the Netherlands on the international stage. As a youngster, he spent nine years in Manchester City’s youth academy but never made a senior team appearance for the Sky Blues.

Frimpong has been on fire in the Bundesliga so far this season. Currently, he has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen, scoring five goals and racking up a total of seven assists.

Who is interested in a move for Jeremie Frimpong?

As things stand, there is no shortage of clubs interested in making a move for Frimpong. He has been linked with teams such as Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

Xabi Alonso, the manager of Leverkusen, has been connected with the Real Madrid post in particular. According to sources, if he returns to his old club, he will be eager to bring Frimpong with him to the Bernabeu.

While it is unknown whether any of these clubs will make a bid for the Dutchman, he is under contract until 2028, so his contract is unlikely to expire. Celtic will almost certainly want a fee when he leaves for another club; the only question is when.
