ANOTHER SETBACK As Reading 22 Year Old Suffers Critical Injury

Reading goalkeeper Jokull Andresson, on loan with League One rivals Carlisle United, is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder.

The 22-year-old Iceland international is on loan in Cumbria and has made six appearances for Paul Simpson’s newly-promoted side.

Unable to play against Harrogate Town in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy win, the loanee has got his loan club concerned.

“We’re waiting for the result of the scan, he had that at 12pm today,” the boss told The Cumberland News.

“It looked, and from [physio] Chris [Brunskill]’s and the doc’s assessment and diagnosis, it looked like he’s popped his shoulder.

“I don’t know how severe that is, whether it’s a similar thing to what JJ Kayode did. We don’t know the severity yet. He was in a lot of pain so we’re waiting on that one.”

The Blues, who travel down to Reading in a fortnight, are said to be looking at free-agent replacements to cover the missing Andresson.

Jokull, brother of fellow Royals Academy graduate Axel, was on the bench for Ruben Selles in the 4-0 Carabao Cup win over Millwall, but is yet to make his Reading debut.
