It is part of the plans for the £21 million redevelopment of Brickfields in Devonport to become a permanent home for the club’s academy
The £21 million refurbishment of the Brickfields site in Devonport by Plymouth Argyle has been completed ahead of a new £7 million share rights sale.
Eighty percent of the additional shares have been acquired by US-based investor Argyle Green, whose managing member is Nick Giannotti. Simon Hallett is the company’s chairman and primary owner. That’s a £5.6 million to £1.4 million split.
Brickfields will house Argyle’s academy permanently going forward, serving as a new community center and home field for the Plymouth Argyle Women.
In total, Hallett and Argyle Green will be committing £11 million to the overall cost. A further £7.3m will come from the Argyle Community Trust by way of sport and community development grant funding and £2.7m from Plymouth City Council by way of savings made on the site by handing management responsibility to Argyle.
Argyle’s new £7 million share rights issue was filed with Companies House on Wednesday. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire then posted a copy of it on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
In a reply to that post on X, Hallett said: “This is the first part of the rights issue to existing shareholders announced as part of the Brickfields project.
“These new shares were taken up 80 percent by me and 20 percent by Argyle Green. Part 2 will be early next year and will be taken up in the same proportion.”
The event starts at 7 p.m. in Club Argyle, and tickets are free. Space is available for those who arrive first. There will be 200 seats available.Hallett, CEO Andrew Parkinson, football director Neil Dewsnip, board director Paul Berne, and finance chief David Ray will be on the panel.
Tickets will be accessible by phone at 01752 907700 or online at argyletickets.com. A link to the forum’s live broadcast will be posted on Argyle’s website and social media pages closer to the event.
