As reported by Sozcu, Galatasaray has asked the Rangers how much it would cost to sign Ridvan Yilmaz.
On Thursday, November 16, the Turkish publication revealed that the Super Lig team intends to bolster their roster in January by bringing in “local stars,” one of whom is the 22-year-old left-back from Germany.
However, despite the possibility that the allure of Champions League football may convince him to return to Turkey, Yilmaz is reportedly “not keen” on doing so after joining the Light Blues from Besiktas in 2022.
Rangers won’t likely be eager to let Yilmaz go until they are paid a fair price that will enable him to return to Turkey.
Although he is currently the backup option for Borna Barisic, he could be in line for minutes at Ibrox before too long, as the 31-year-old isn’t getting any younger.
A key factor will probably come down to whether the Turkish international is willing to bide his time and wait for his opportunity in the first team to come on a consistent basis.
After making three starts since Philippe Clement joined the team, he seems to be developing into a serious threat to challenge Barisic for a left-back spot.
However, there are still six weeks before the January transfer window, so things might drastically alter and raise doubts about whether he will play out the season in Glasgow.
