According to a TEAMtalk story, West Brom is one of the teams interested in Callum Styles, a Barnsley star.
Due to their owners’ persistent lack of investment, West Brom did not hire many players during the summer. However, manager Carlos Corberan has been getting the most out of his team, as seen by their placement in seventh place in the championship standings.
It is hoped that January will bring in some new faces, and there are now rumors of a new target.
The Baggies are one of the teams expressing interest in Barnsley’s versatile star Callum Styles, according to a TEAMtalk report. The 16-cap Hungary international returned to Millwall for the 2018–19 season and made 13 appearances in a midfield capacity for the Tykes.
The 23-year-old had spent much of his recent season playing on the left-hand side as a wingback or fullback. However, under Neill Collins, he’s successfully moved back into the central position he first made a name for himself in.
Sheffield United, Burnley, Union Berlin, Anderlecht, Braga, and Lens are also admirers of Styles.
Target identified
West Brom seems like a realistic destination for Styles, given his championship experience and continued form with Barnsley. However, the level of other interest in his services could make it a tough deal to strike.
The other teams rumored to be interested in his services are all active in elite divisions; some even have access to European football. Given his potential and experience playing internationally, one could argue that a team fitting that description would be more likely to acquire the adaptable Barnsley star.
It may surprise many if West Brom find themselves in a bidding war this winter, given the meager investment made in the summer as well. Though many clubs are keeping an eye on Styles’ position, only time will tell how things work out.
