Paul Merson Now Makes Score Prediction For Wolves vs Spurs
Wolves host Tottenham Hotspur this weekend in the Premier League – and Paul Merson has now made his score prediction for the game.
Wanderers are looking to bounce back from the frustrating 2-1 defeat against Sheffield United last weekend
Wolves lost in the dying seconds, after a penalty was awarded to the Blades. Fabio Silva’s ‘foul’ on George Baldock gave Oliver Norwood the chance to give Sheffield United their first win of the season, and he made no mistake from the spot.
Gary O’Neil was again unhappy after the game, but also called on his side to improve.
It’s Spurs on Saturday at Molineux for Wolves, and it could be a tricky game…
Paul Merson makes prediction for Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur
On Monday, Spurs suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season against Chelsea.
They went down to nine men, which allowed Chelsea to apply a lot of pressure in the second-half. Spurs played a very high line which was bold but, ultimately, foolish.
Chelsea won 2-1, and Spurs finished the game having lost four players. As well as red cards for Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, there were injuries for James Maddison and Micky van de Ven. There is a chance Maddison could yet play, but Wolves are definitely coming up against a depleted side.
It is for that reason that Merson is actually predicting Wolves to win this game.
Predicting a 2-1 Wolves victory, he said (Sportskeeda): “This one is a very interesting game. I’ll be shocked if Tottenham, with their injuries and suspensions, beat Wolves on Saturday. I was looking at Spurs’ situation and they have some bad injuries.
“Micky van de Ven is out and they’ve got Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie who are set to miss a couple of weeks due to suspension.
“James Maddison is going to be out too and Richarlison is set to undergo surgery. Ange Postecoglou will be fielding a makeshift backline and they are not going to be the same side that got off to a flying start to the season due to their injuries.”
Wolves can beat Tottenham
It is a very good time for Wolves to play Tottenham.
Spurs have a lot of key players out and Ange Postecoglu will probably be scratching his head right now as to who to play and how to set up.
The Wolves players are feeling very aggrieved after the latest appalling decision to go against them. Several stars, including Max Kilman and Nelson Semedo, expressed their frustration in interviews after the game.
Perhaps this, and all the other bad calls, will provide the motivation for a top performance.
Spurs are actually there for the taking. Especially if Postecoglu adopts a high line again. Players like Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha could very well have field days.
