L’Équipe reports that AC Milan is considering a low-ball offer for 22-year-old forward Jonathan David of Lille OSC. David hasn’t started any of Les Dogues’ last three games in all competitions.
David, who has been among Ligue 1’s most productive strikers for the last two years, has not yet regained his scoring form this season. He has only scored four goals in 16 appearances across all competitions, including just two in 11 Ligue 1 games. As a result, Yusuf Yazici will start in David’s stead for the Ligue 1 matches against AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille after Paulo Fonseca dropped him for the previous two. Also starting on Thursday was the Turkish striker against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Europa League draw.
Naturally, there’s a sense that David is losing favor with Fonseca. The summer saw a lot of speculation about the Canadian striker leaving, but no team was prepared to pay the substantial €60 million release clause. L’Équipe reports that AC Milan, who have been tracking the player for a while, may take advantage of the circumstances and submit a bid that is less than the player’s initial €60 million demand.
