Championship Rivals Sunderland, Middlesbrough Rangers And Preston North End Also Said To Be In For His Signature.
£3.4m+ update emerges in Leeds United bid to sign Daniel Adjei, 15% re-sale clause demanded in transfer
Leeds United are one of a number of clubs interested in signing versatile Hammarby defender Nathaniel Adjei, according to FotbollDirekt.
The Swedish outlet provided an update on Adjei’s future on Tuesday (7 November), with Championship rivals Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Preston North End also said to be in for his signature.
Scottish Premiership heavyweights Celtic and Rangers have also been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old, who is predominantly a centre-back but can also play at right-back.
FotbollDirekt reported that Hammarby are looking for at least £3.4million (€4m) for Adjei, on top of a sell-on clause of around 15-20%.
Adjei is clearly a man in demand, and Leeds may have to get a move on as Rangers are said to have already sent scouts to watch him up close.
When you factor in the rumoured interest from the likes of Preston, Sunderland and Middlesbrough, it is surprising he is valued at such a low fee.
The Ghana Under-23 international is also under contract with Hammarby until 2026, so it is not like their hands are being forced.
Adjei has played in 20 of his side’s 29 league games this season, starting 15 of those, while also featuring twice in the Europa Conference League.
Leeds have loanee Joe Rodon in the heart of their defence this season, but he will be returning to Tottenham next summer so bringing in Adjei in January would make sense.
Either way, a decision must be made quickly because it sounds as though others are ready to pounce for this young talent who has plenty of potential.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could miss out on an eight-figure payment following a report that emerged on Wednesday (8 November).
