John Mousinho and Conor Shaughnessy have both been recognised for Pompey’s fine form throughout October.

There were impressive victories over Wycombe, Port Vale, Carlisle and Reading, along with a draw at Cambridge.

And defender Shaughnessy was one of the star performers on the pitch, scoring stoppage-time winners against the Chairboys and Cumbrians, as well as helping to keep a trip of clean sheets.

Mousinho will have to see off competition from Cheltenham’s Darrell Clarke, Barnsley’s Neill Collins and Bolton’s Ian Evatt to retain the award.

Shaughnessy has been nominated alongside Carlisle’s Jordan Gibson, Wycombe’s Luke Leahy and Charlton’s Alfie May.

The winners will be announced on Friday and are decided by judging panels that include former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL chief executive Trevor Birch and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
