One journalist speculates that Nino might be let go on loan as Nottingham Forest appears to be winning the race to sign him. In January, the Copa Libertadores winner will officially join the Reds after a deal is finalized.
Nino is expected to sign, and Forest has been eager to add another center defender to their roster. Despite having played for Fluminense for a long time—more than 200 appearances—he now appears to be leaving the team.
The 26-year-old was on fire on Saturday, as the Copa Libertadores was won by his present team. In the championship game, they overcame Boca Juniors, igniting wild celebrations at the Maracana in Brazil.
A journalist thinks Forest could loan Nino out
Nino is now set to join Forest in the coming weeks. However, he won’t officially transfer until January, given that he wants to play in the Club World Cup with Fluminense before heading to Europe.
Now, journalist Konstantinos Lianos has weighed in with his thoughts on the whole situation surrounding Nino and Forest. He believes that the Olympiacos are so desperate for a central defender right now that the player shouldn’t be ruled out for a loan to the Greek outfit.
Forest-linked Nino has made 50 appearances for his current club during the current season. His form has been so good that he’s now been called into the Brazil squad for their forthcoming games against Colombia and Argentina.
Forest surely won’t allow defender out on loan
Lianos points out that Forest have seven central defenders available to them, but that is somewhat flawed. Scott McKenna could now leave the club in January, whilst Joe Worrall also seems down the pecking order
Andrew Omobamidele is another one of those, and he appears to be a true futurist. On Sunday, Moussa Niakhate and Murillo shared the spotlight, with Willy Boly serving as the backup.
Another one of the central defenders that City Ground currently has on its roster is Felipe. Since he hasn’t played much this season, Nino would immediately surpass him in the Forest hierarchy.
Olympiacos and Forest get along well, and it’s a good idea to send players to them. All things considered, though, it doesn’t appear probable that Nino will be leaving Forest for Greece on loan.
