Nottingham Forest could sign £6m Copa Libertadores winner and loan him out
Nottingham Forest look set to win the race to sign Nino and one journalist thinks he could be allowed to leave on loan. The Reds will complete a deal for the Copa Libertadores winner to join the club in January.
Forest have been keen to add another central defender to their ranks, with Nino set to sign. He has been with Fluminense for many years, making over 200 appearances for the club, but now looks set to leave.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old was in fine form as his current club won the Copa Libertadores. They defeated Boca Juniors in the final, sparking jubilant scenes at the Maracana in Brazil.
Journalist thinks Forest could loan Nino out
Nino is now set to join Forest in the coming weeks. However, he won’t officially transfer until January given that he wants to play in the Club World Cup with Fluminense before heading to Europe.
Now, journalist Konstantinos Lianos has weighed in with his thoughts on the whole situation surrounding Nino to Forest. He believes that Olympiacos are so desperate for a central defender right now, that the player shouldn’t be ruled out for a loan to the Greek outfit.
Forest-linked Nino has made 50 appearances for his current club during the current season. His form has been so good that he’s now been called into the Brazil squad for their forthcoming games against Colombia and Argentina.
Forest surely won’t allow defender out on loan
Lianos points out that Forest have seven central defenders available to them but that is somewhat flawed. Scott McKenna could now leave the club in January, whilst Joe Worrall also seems down the pecking order
Another of those is Andrew Omobamidele and he looks like very much one of the future. Moussa Niakhate and Murillo starred together on Sunday, with Willy Boly the option from the bench.
Felipe is another of those central defenders currently on the books at the City Ground. He’s not featured all season and as a result, Nino would instantly go ahead of him in the Forest pecking order.
Forest have a healthy relationship with Olympiacos and they are a useful club to offload players to. However, taking everything into consideration, it seems unlikely that Nino will be heading to Greece on loan from Forest.
