The relief and hunger on Josh Coburn’s face after ending Middlesbrough’s ‘frustrating’ goalless run…

Josh Coburn scored twice for Middlesbrough in the 3-3 draw at Plymouth Argyle.

The relief Josh Coburn felt after his Plymouth Argyle brace was clear to see, and the hunger for more Middlesbrough goals was even more so.

It was a post-match interview of mixed feelings for the Middlesbrough striker after a 3-3 draw at Home Park. His brace ended what he described as a frustrating period for him, in which a fair few decent chances in recent games went begging for the 20-year-old academy graduate. There was frustration too, though, that his brace was only enough to help Boro to an away-day draw after a thrilling encounter.

For Coburn, his two goals for the club he very nearly joined on loan this summer were just his second and third goals of the season. There was a playful shove from Argyle boss Steven Schumacher as he spoke to the media after the game after he proved a thorn in his team’s side. Now, for Coburn, the key is pushing on from here.

“It was great to give us the lead,” The Teessider said. “It was tight in there. The second was a bit of a scrappy one, but thankfully it dropped to me. I should score the penalty. I want penalties. I want to score as many goals as possible, and though I have one goal, I won’t ever settle for that because I want as many as possible. It wasn’t a great penalty, but thankfully it went in in the end.

“It’s been a little frustrating for me lately. I’ve been starting games, which is brilliant, but I want to score goals, and it just hasn’t been happening. I know I will get plenty of chances on this team, though, so there is plenty of opportunity to get the goals. I just need to keep going.
