League Two rivals of Bradford City have signed a former manager from Sheffield United and Hull City.

League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers have appointed Nigel Adkins as their new permanent manager.

The former Hull City and Sheffield United managers joined the team in the summer as technical directors and then became interim managers.

He now has the authority permanently after signing a contract that lasts until 2026, though.
“I have no illusions that we have work to do given our very poor start to the season; however, I would not have accepted this role on a permanent basis if I was not confident that we could put it right.

“With the backing of the SWA, the excellent infrastructure and support that Tranmere Rovers has in place provides us with a solid platform as we want to gain momentum and climb the table.

Tranmere currently sit 23rd in League Two and have not picked up a win since they faced Bradford City on October 3.
