Sometimes, while vetting the comments left after an article, I notice that something has been posted by a newcomer to our unofficial site.
Yesterday, while scanning the comments, the following caught my eye, relating to our striker situation:
“I’ve heard there is a really good and quick 20-year-old striker in League Two, scoring goals for a poor team and getting into great (predatory) scoring positions. He would certainly have been on the end of some of the crosses that flashed across the box. Joe Taylor is the name; it’s worth checking out some of his goals on Sky. Heard of him? I wouldn’t have to add him to the 25 either.”
Now, I have to admit I felt for Joe when, after celebrating our promotion to the Premier League back in May, he never got the chance to sample top-flight football; instead, he was sent out on a season-long loan to Colchester United.
But when it comes to his ability to score goals, we at Vital Luton Town have been watching Joe closely.Joe has been among the goals scored while playing for struggling Colchester United, as the reference comment states. In 16 league appearances, he has scored eight goals, making him the club’s top scorer.
If my memory serves me correctly, Joe scored his first seven goals prior to the thirty-minute mark, with his most recent goal coming after that.
Is the author of the cited comment making a valid point, though?
Is it preferable for the Hatters to let the young player stay with Colchester United until the end of the season, or should they bring him back during the January transfer window?
I believe that he should be allowed to gain experience in League Two before moving up to the Premier League at this early age.
Do you share that opinion, or do you have a different one?
